Our Bible School week is coming to a close and the girls have had a great time helping out this year. Our theme, as designed by Father, was "Discover the Light: The Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary". Bug, technically, should have been with her 3rd grade class, but because she has a bit of an "in" with one of the teachers, (I wonder who that would be?) she was allowed to stay in my room as a helper. Birdie was official as a junior high helper (whether she liked it or not!). Our week took the kids (kindergarten through 4th grade) on a trip around the rosary, learning the stories of the Luminous Mysteries and the love of Mary our Mother at the same time. Father did a great job meshing some of the stories of Marian apparitions with a theme for the mystery each day...The Baptism of Jesus was presented with Our Lady of Lourdes (water theme), The Transfiguration of the Lord went with Our Lady of Fatima (light theme)...things like that. It was really neat and the kids enjoyed it. We were in charge of the Bible story, a narration or explanation of the Mystery itself. We used a combination of felt board retelling and some of the Cathechesis of the Good Shepherd materials that I use in my kindergarten during the school year. It has been a nice week. Today is Thursday so we actually finish up tomorrow, which is amazingly enough...The Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord. Isn't it wonderful how God works!
